TUCSON - This morning the Pima County Board of Supervisors approved the 5-year City/County Action plan for Water Sustainability. This afternoon the Tucson City Council followed suit.
This means that both entities will begin to work more cooperatively to solve common water and wastewater issues in the Tucson region.
The Pima County Board of Supervisors says the plan calls for, among many goals, developing a water supply action plan. This includes maximizing re-use of effluent, stormwater harvesting, rainwater and gray water.
The county and the city plan to take on collaborative efforts to acquire new water sources and achieve greater flexibility in using existing supplies.
The plan also calls for creating greater alignment between existing water policy and goals for economic base job creation and urban revitalization.
