TUCSON - New charges have been filed against a man previously charged in a burglary during which a Tucson Police officer was shot.
Richard Mendoza Jr. is now charged with two counts of Aggravated Assault; one with Serious Injury and
the other with a Deadly Weapon, both felonies.
Mendoza had previously been charged with two counts of First Degree Burglarly and six counts of Prohibited Possessor in connection to a burglary at a home on November 18, 2012. During that burglary investigation, Sergeant Robert Carpenter was seriously wounded.
Richard Mendoza Jr. remains in custody at the Pima
County Jail.
