An NBA team owner is in hot water after allegedly making racist comments during an argument with his girlfriend.
Controversial statements released by TMZ Sports are being attributed to Los Angeles Clippers owner Donald Sterling.
The NBA mogul is underr fire after a recording of an argument allegedly between him and his girlfriend, V. Stiviano, surfaced Friday.
The recording prompted an investigation by the NBA. During his alleged rant, Sterling addressed a photo Stiviano took with Magic Johnson.
"I think the fact that you admire him - I've known him well, and he should be admired. And I'm just saying that it's too bad you can't admire him privately, and during your entire f**king life your whole life- admire him, bring him here, feed him, f**k him, I don't care. You can do anything. But don't put him on an Instagram for the world to have to see so they have to call me. And don't bring him to my games. Ok?" he said in the recording.
Magic Johnson responded on ESPN Sunday morning:
"I had a friendship with him. so for him to then make these comments, or alleged comments, about myself as well as other african americans and minorities...there's no place in society for it," Johnson said. "For comments like that, it taints our game and we can't have that. we can't have it from a player, we can't have it from an owner, we can't have it from a fan. When ignorant folks want to advertise their ignorance, you don't really have to do anything, you just let 'em talk, and that's what happened here."
One person who hasn't weighed in? Don Sterling. He has yet to offer a public comment on the situation.
