TUCSON - The Pima County Sheriff's Department is investigating a case of a mother they say left her toddler inside a hot car.
The incident happened this afternoon in the 6500 block of Knoll Pines Way.
Deputies say the 22-year-old mother called 9211 when she could not open the vehicle.
Emergency crews broke into the car to rescue the 2-year-old when they arrived on scene.
They estimate the child had been in the car for up to 30 minutes.
The child was checked out on the scene and not transported to the hospital.
The mother was cited and released for child neglect.
