TUCSON - We finally got a break from the wind on Monday, but our recent gusty winds are merely taking a nap. As high pressure builds over the region Tuesday through Thursday, the gradient will tighten up, and the winds will rise. Temperatures will also be on the rise.
Temperatures on Monday were mainly in the upper 70s to lower 80s under mostly sunny skies. Tuesday will feature more wind and a modest warm up as temperatures return to the upper 80s. Wednesday looks to be the breeziest of the next several days, and areas of blowing dust and elevated fire danger will return to the region. The windiest period of time looks to be early Wednesday morning.
Winds will die down as we head into Thursday and beyond, and this is the period of time when we look for the 90s to return. Friday and Saturday will be the warmest days when highs climb into the upper 90s.
So, our first 100 degree day could happen this week but as of now it looks like most of our forecast tools keep Tucson in the upper 90s.
