TUCSON - Shower and thunderstorm activity starting to take off this evening.
Thunderstorms are initiating in Northern Cochise and Southern Graham Counties and slowly pushing to the west toward Tucson throughout the evening. These storms are capable of producing strong wind gusts and heavy rain. Flooding on roadways and washes is also a possibility so if you do run into a thunderstorm pull over and let it pass.
Safford Municipal shows what some of these storms are capable of recording nearly 40mph wind gusts and 0.59" of rain in just the last hour. Some radar estimates on the Graham and Cochise County line are above 2'' an hour. The storm coverage is expected to expand toward the west throughout the next several hours.
