TUCSON - Severe thunderstorms hit parts of Southern Arizona with hail, high wind and heavy rain.
Strong thunderstorms rolled over the Catalinas this evening and right into the Oracle area dumping a lot of hail in the area. A trained weather spotter near Oracle reported quarter sized hail falling for about twenty minutes.
Another storm moved through Tucson's southside bringing thunder and lightning along with some good soaking rain. TIA reported 0.24" as this storm quickly moved through before dissipating.
Strong storms continue this evening across Cochise County with heavy rain and lightning from Palominas to St. David. Storms will continue there track west through evening before dying down sometime after midnight.
Plenty of moisture remains in place across Southern Arizona for another round of isolated to scattered storms to take off tomorrow. Again, some storms may turn severe with damaging winds, hail and heavy rain to round out the weekend.
Watching for a possible uptick in storm activity as we head into Tuesday and Wednesday of next week. Temperatures will remain near the seasonal norm for the next several days.
