Monsoon shuts down for the work week

TUCSON - Drying out and heating up the remainder of the work week.

Monsoon moisture has been shoved east of the state, according to News 4 Meteorologist Jeff Beamish. Save for a slight chance of a few storms near the New Mexico state line, southern Arizona sees mostly sunny skies this afternoon. Tucson returns to triple digits for highs, which is 3-5° above average for early August.

Expect mostly sunny to partly cloudy skies across the metro the rest of the work week.

High pressure moves toward the Four Corners this weekend, shifting mid-level winds from the southwest to southeast. This wind shift carries in Monsoon moisture, bringing a chance of storms back to southern Arizona. Isolated storms are possible Friday along the International Border, with Tucson seeing a slight storm chance this weekend and early next week.
