Monday monsoon update

TUCSON - Get ready for an active week of weather across Southern Arizona.

An unusual area of low pressure is moving from East to West, and a lot of moisture is moving around it.

Destination: Southern Arizona.

Flash Flood Watches have been posted for most of Southern Arizona, east of the City of Tucson.

Places already seeing record July rainfall in Cochise County are poised to receive much more.

According to Chief Meteorologist Matt Brode, there will be an abrupt line where abundant rain will fall to the East and much lesser amounts to the West. Tucson will be close to this line.

Numerous showers and thunderstorms are moving into the region, and the heaviest rain will fall late Monday through Tuesday night.

By Wednesday it's back to a more typical monsoon forecast with scattered mainly late-day storms returning to the region.

The entire week ahead looks favorable for rain chances.
