TUCSON - Windy weather making things tough for Northwest Fire crews called to a two-alarm blaze Tuesday.

Flames erupted just before noon at a mobile home near Wetmore Road and Flowing Wells.

Wind gusts quickly spread the fire to another home making it a tough battle.

It took almost 90-minutes to get the situation under control.

Two homes are gutted.

Because of this fire, the electric and gas had to be shut off in the neighborhood.

Thick black smoke and tall red flames. It burned hot and fast.

"I came outside to get a soda pop and my house was on fire," said Cindy Sellner.

Wind fanned the fire to her home.

"But everybody's out and everybody's safe. I just hope my daughter's house doesn't catch on fire right next door, look. Oh my gosh," describes Sellner.

It didn't. Firefighters were on scene in seven minutes and able to contain the fire to two homes.

Besides wind crews had to deal with a downed power line with live wires, also a gas leak.

Captain Adam Goldberg with Northwest Fire says, "because of that, based on the winds and the amount of fire, a second alarm was struck early on that brought additional trucks, firefighters and water."

At no point were firefighters out of water, but without fire hydrants in the area crews had to extend hoses and call for water trucks.

Sellner and her daughter Marisella Bowman grabbed what they could knowing possessions can be replaced, people can't.

"We tried to get everything out that was important, but I don't think we got a lot out," said Bowman.

"Oh my gosh, it's a gonner," says Sellner as she watches her home burn.

The cause is under investigation.

The Red Cross is helping those effected, 9 adults and 6 kids.

They also tell us two dogs perished in the fire.
