Midtown neighborhood taped off as TPD investigates possible pipe bomb

TUCSON - Tucson police have been investigating a home in the area of Richey and 3rd Street.

Firefighters and ATF are assisting Tucson police with the investigation.

Detectives have been investigating a possible pipe bomb or similar type of explosion that occurred a few days ago in the yard of one of these homes.

Police said while here they learned of another possible explosion that happened Sunday.

Police tell News 4 Tucson no one was injured and no one is in danger at this time.

Neighbors have been concerned they said they heard the two explosions over the weekend. "Unfortunately it doesn't surprise me but it's still scary at the same time because of how loud and how close we really are to it," said Michael Edwards who lives in the neighborhood.

The Miramonte Neighborhood Association's president said he's been getting emails from those living here asking what exactly is happening.

This isn't the first time this area has been taped off. "(Saturday) the police were here they taped off the block and I asked what happened and they told me there was some sort of explosion and last night after ten o'clock or so I heard another explosion," said Richard Alexander, the neighborhood association's president.
