TUCSON - On Monday, a 25-year-old Mexican national was detained at the San Luis Port of Entry when border officers found an estimated $257,000 worth of methamphetamine hidden in his vehicle.
Customs and Border Protection officers referred 25-year-old Jose Fernando Sanchez-Rocha for additional inspection of his Ford sedan while attempting to enter the United States, according to a news release from CBP. A drug-sniffing dog altered to the presence of drugs, and officers located over 15 pounds of meth in the support beam above the vehicle's rear axle.
The drugs and vehicle were seized, and Sanchez-Rocha was turned over to Immigrations and Customs Enforcement, the release states.
