WHITERIVER, Ariz. (AP) - Funeral services have been set for a veteran firefighter who died after responding to a blaze on the Fort Apache reservation in eastern Arizona.
A public memorial for Deon Classay will be held Sunday afternoon at the Chief Alchesay Activity Center in Whiteriver. Burial will follow at a family plot.
The public also is invited to pay tribute to the 43-year-old Classay during a two-night wake at his home that starts Friday morning.
Classay was a member of the Fort Apache Hotshots that responded to a lightning-caused fire that broke out Saturday. He was discovered missing after the crew hiked back to camp after building a line around the fire.
Search crews found his body early the next morning.
No word yet on what caused his death.
