Many residents around Monument Fire allowed back home

SIERRA VISTA - Many evacuations have been lifted and some roads around the Monument Fire have been opened, incident officials say.

All areas east and north of State Route 92 are open to residents, and all areas west of 92 from Hunter Canyon to Coronado Memorial Road are open, but require a re-entry permit. This area includes the Three Canyons and Wild Horse neighborhoods.

Yesterday, re-entry permits were being issued for residents north of Hunter Canyon to White Lily, on the west side of SR92. Nicksville is open to residents, but requires an escort by the Sheriff's office.

Re-entry permits can be obtained at: Palominas Fire Department Station 195 at Kings Ranch Rd and SR92 (10202 E. Hwy 92). For more information, call the Sheriff's Office at (520) 432-9500.

A fire information meeting is scheduled for 6 p.m. tonight at Buena High School, 5225 Buena School Blvd. in Sierra Vista. Fire information bulletin boards are set up at the High School, food court at the Sierra Vista Mall, & Windemere Hotel. Fact sheets and maps are posted throughout Sierra Vista, Bisbee, Palominas, and Huachuca City
