Man whos dog was shot by police charged with threats

HAWTHORNE, Calif. - Prosecutors say the owner of a Rottweiler that was shot to death by police in Southern California faces charges that he threatened a witness who recorded the incident.

More than six felony charges were filed Tuesday against 52-year-old Leon Cordell Rosby, who is accused of dissuading a witness and other crimes.

Last month, a uniformed officer in Hawthorne shot the dog four times after the animal jumped out of a car window and lunged at officers who had handcuffed its master.

Prosecutors say there were two videos of the incident, and Rosby made unspecified threats against a woman and her son for shooting footage of the moments leading up to the shooting.

A YouTube video of the incident has been viewed more than 5 million times.
