TEMPE, Ariz. (AP) - An Arizona fugitive convicted more than a decade ago of luring women to his apartment and videotaping their sexual assaults has been arrested in Florida, authorities said Friday.
Antonio Julio Sanchez was taken into custody Wednesday in Miami, where he was living under an alias, according to Tempe police and the U.S. Marshals Service.
Sanchez and his cousin, Mazon Diamond, were accused of inviting women to their apartment, offering them a drugged drink and then videotaping themselves having sex with the victims twice during a five-day span in March 2001.
Police said they later found a video tape in the men's apartment that documented one of the rapes.
Sanchez and Diamond both pleaded guilty of sexual assault and kidnapping in September 2002, but failed to appear at their sentencings in Maricopa County Superior Court in Phoenix, and arrest warrants were issued.
Last year, a Tempe fugitive apprehension squad began work on finding the two men and partnered with the Marshals Service.
Police said Diamond remains at large.
Authorities said Diamond was an Arizona State University student at the time and Sanchez was a former ice cream shop owner.
