Man rescued from running wash in Cochise County

COCHISE COUNTY - The Search and Rescue team in Cochise County rescued a man from a vehicle submerged in a running wash Friday evening.

The man called the Cochise County Sheriff's Office just before 6 p.m. to report that he was trapped inside his vehicle near Portal off of Foothills Road, 1/2 mile from the New Mexico/Arizona border.

The man had been driving in the wash when his truck got stuck and water began rushing into it. When he called for help up to six inches of water had filled his truck.

Search and Rescue crews were able to get to the vehicle and rescue the man by 9:30 p.m., he was OK.

The truck is still in the wash because there's so much water flowing in the area.

A reminder from authorities:
Please remember to stay off of roadways that have water flowing over them and NEVER enter any wash in an attempt to cross. Turn Around, Don't Drown!
