PIMA COUNTY - A man is dead after being hit by a vehicle in Pima County Thursday night.

The Pima County Sheriff's Department says the crash happened about 8 p.m. on Valencia Road between Cardinal Road and Camino de la Tierra.

A 51-year-old male was lying in the roadway.

Investigators believe the victim was crossing Valencia Road, from the north side to the south side of the roadway in a wheelchair when he was hit by an eastbound traveling passenger vehicle. The motorist and others stopped to render aide to the victim.

The victim's identity has not been released.
