Man killed in overnight shooting on southside

TUCSON - Police are investigating a deadly shooting on the southside.

Officers responded just before 11:30 p.m. Wednesday to the 5200 block of South Placita Brisa Grande near Tucson Boulevard and Irvington Road. They found a man lying in the road with gunshot trauma, said Sgt. Pete Dugan. He was taken to a hospital where he later died.

Some neighbors called 911 after seeing the victim on the ground. Dugan said witnesses also saw another person standing near the victim. The person left in a gold car before police arrived. Police have not released the victim's name.
