TUCSON - One man has been apprehended after an alleged shooting incident in the parking lot of the Wal-Mart near Valencia and Interstate 19 that has left another man dead.
Police state in a news release that two groups of people got into a verbal altercation at about 9:30 p.m. last night, in the eastern area of the parking lot for the Wal-Mart located at 1650 W. Valencia, Tucson. At one point, the verbal altercation escalated to a physical confrontation between two men, one from each group.
The deceased male, later described as a 25-year-old Caucasian man, had been involved in the fight with another man who had a gun, later described as a 20-year-old Hispanic man. The gun discharged at least one time, striking the victim, the news release states.
After the gun discharged, the Hispanic man began running east across South Midvale Park Road, but was apprehended a short distance away without incident after he encountered a security guard in a nearby apartment complex, the TPD release states.
It is believed that all involved parties have been accounted for, and the gun involved in the incident has been recovered.
