Man charged with Second Degree Murder for fatal collision

TUCSON - A 22-year-old man has been charged for Second Degree Murder for an eastside traffic accident yesterday that left a 23-year-old woman dead.

Kelly Huyser, 23, died from injuries she sustained after her car collided with a car driven by Kevin Ryan Millard at the intersection of East Escalante and South Camino Seco, according to TPD spokesperson Sgt. Maria Hawke. Traffic detectives determined that Millard ran a stop sign while traveling east on Escalante, then collided with Huyser's car as she was traveling north of Camino Seco.

Millard has been charged with Second Degree Murder, Aggravated Assault and Criminal Damage after it was determined that alcohol and/or drugs were a factor in the collision that occurred at about 12:40 p.m., Sgt. Hawke stated in a news release.

A passenger in the car driven by Huyser was seriously injured, but he is in a local hospital and is expected to survive his injuries, Sgt. Hawke stated.

Millard sustained minor injuries in the collision, and was later transported and booked into Pima County Jail.
