Man charged with operating a chop shop

TUCSON - A 30-year-old man is under arrest, charged with Owning and/or Operating a Chop Shop.
Gary Lynn Nixon was also charged with four counts of Theft of Means of Transportation.

It all started with a burglary report on Wednesday, November 7th.

A man reported his house on S. Spencer Avenue, near Ajo Highway and Camino Verde, was ransacked and burglarized.

Deputies with the Pima County Sheriff's Department San Xavier District responded.

The homeowner told them he was missing weapons, jewelry, a computer and other items.

After further investigation, detectives served a search warrant at a home on S. Calle Hohokam.

During the search, they found several laptops as well as 4 stolen vehicles.

The vehicles were all in various stages of disassembly.

The owner of the property, Gary Nixon, was booked into jail.

Anyone with information about this case is asked to call 9-1-1 or 88-CRIME.
