TUCSON - A year-long investigation into the online sharing of child sexual abuse images via peer-to-peer Internet networks leads to an arrest.
47-year-old Mitchell Beiro was booked into Pima County Jail on 15 counts of sexual exploitation of a minor.
Detectives with the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force identified a computer in the Tucson area that had been sharing multiple files depicting the sexual abuse of minors.
Detectives traced the location of that computer to an address in the 2900 block of West Pincushion Lane.
Wednesday, detectives served a search warrant on the residence and found various computer related items, which contained thousands of files depicting the sexual exploitation of minors.
During the investigation, detectives revealed Mr. Beiro was involved in an unreported child molestation case in California. Mr. Beiro is currently employed as security guard for a local security company in Tucson. The Tucson Police Department is concerned that there may be other unreported cases in both Tucson and Southern California.
Anyone who may have information regarding unreported cases of sexual misconduct involving Mr. Beiro is urged to contact 911 or 88-CRIME.
