Man arrested for impersonating firefighter in Warneke funeral

TUCSON - On July 10, James Patrick Brown was arrested and booked into the Pima County Jail on one count of Impersonating a Public Servant.

While assisting with the funeral procession of fallen Granite Mountain Firefighter William Warneke Wednesday July 10, Marana Police Officers spoke with Mr. Brown, who was in a restricted area of the procession.

Brown stated he was an employee of the Tucson Fire Departments Fleet Services and was authorized to be in the procession. Marana Police learned that Mr. Brown was not an employee of the Tucson Fire Department.

At the time of his arrest, Mr. Brown was wearing a Tucson Fire Department t-shirt and hat, and had a TFD Captain and a City of Wickenburg Fire Department badge in his possession. An investigation into how Mr. Brown came into the possession of the badges is ongoing.

Mr. Brown was also wanted on an outstanding felony warrant issued out Maricopa County for theft.
