Man arrested after shooting deputy car overnight

TUCSON - Pima County Sheriff's deputies arrested a man early Thursday morning on suspicion of attempted murder.

Deputies received a 911 call at 2 a.m. Thursday about a man running with a gun, Pima County Sheriff's Department spokesman Jesus Bañuelos said.

When deputies arrived, they heard a gunshot coming from inside an apartment complex near La Cholla and Magee. A coordinated search of the suspect lead deputies to the suspect, identified as 26-year-old Michael Albert Mesaros.

A handgun was found in the apartment Mesaros was found in.

Detectives determined the man fired his gun at the deputy's car in addition to shooting 3 other cars and a building in the complex, Bañuelos said.

Mesaros was charged with unlawfully posessing a weapon, two counts of attempted murder, criminal damage and a failure to appear in court warrant.
