TUCSON- In today's Make Me Over segment, contributing plastic surgeon Dr. Gwen Maxwell talked about a new study about liposuction.
The study, done by the University of Colorado, found that fat does in fact, come back, after liposuction.
After about a year the fat returns, primarily in the upper body (shoulders, triceps, arms).
Levels of body fat are very tightly regulated by mechanisms still unknown (This was the hypothesis of the study.)
Despite fat returning, the study participants were very happy with their surgery results, because they believed their overall cosmetic shape was improved.
The control group that did not have liposuction, still wanted liposuction even after finding out the study results.
