TUCSON - In today's "Make Me Over" segment, we talked about plastic surgery and Baby Boomers.
They have always set society's trends - they le dhte social revolution of the 60's, the technology revolution of the 90's, and now they are leading the aging revolution by redefining what it means to age.
News 4 Tucson plastic surgery contributor Dr. Gwen Maxwell joined us to discuss this cultural development.
Dr. Maxwell says that in general, Boomers are living an active, vigorous lifestyle and they want their outer appearance to match how they feel inside. Plastic surgery among Boomers is becoming popular and "routine". There is no longer a stigma associated with it.
The most interesting trend in this demographic is the increase in plastic surgery for men. "Average Joes" are the fastest growing group of patients for plastic surgery.
Dr. Maxwell provided some very interesting statistics: from the American Society of Plastic Surgery's report of 2010 plastic surgery statistics.
