PHOENIX - A Tempe couple has claimed a $1 million Powerball lottery prize and it's not the first time they've won big bucks playing the Arizona Lottery.
Diane and Kerry Carmichael have cashed in their second prize winning ticket for the Wednesday, March 6 Powerball drawing. Remarkably, in December 1995 the couple won $2.5 million in The Pick lottery drawing.
The pair purchased their winning Powerball Quick Pick ticket at the Arizona Lottery's Phoenix office. Their winning The Pick ticket was purchased at the same location 18 years ago.
"This is an incredible win for the Arizona Lottery, especially since the ticket was purchased at our office by a previous Lottery winner," said Arizona Lottery Director, Karen Bach.
The Carmichaels are retired and reside in Tempe. They are still being paid a $125,000 annuity for their 1995 win, which will expire in December 2014. "Good things come in threes. Two down, one to go," Diane joked.
The next Powerball draw is Saturday, March 9 for an estimated $150 million jackpot.
