TUCSON - A local V.A. nurse was arrested on 10 counts of sexual exploitation of a minor after Tucson police found hundreds of pictures of child porn on his home computers.

Christopher Brown, 53, was arrested yesterday after a months-long investigation that began in March. Investigators received a tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.

Brown was uploading child porn images on social media websites according to Tucson Police officials.

Over the next few months, the Internet Child Crimes Unit was able to track the uploader using his IP adress and obtain a subpeona. On August 8, Tucson Police arrested Brown at his home where they searched his computers and other media devices with hundreds of images of child porn.

Tucson police say Brown did not produce the images but was uploading pictures he downloaded elsewhere on the Internet. Although it appears Brown himself did not victimize anyone, police still take this very seriously.

"Law enforcement takes this crime so seriosuly [because] we worry about someone who would look at these images and what their intentions might be to someone in our community," said Sgt. Widmer of the Tucson Police Department.

Brown's neighbors share these concerns and worry about what could have happened to the community had police not acted when they did.

Kavina Cordell lives in the same neighborhood as Brown and was shocked. "I'm absolutely disgusted actually. That makes me very nervous about the neighborhood."

She added later, "Especially since the school is right there, he probably definitely would have become a danger, so I'm glad that they caught him now."

Christopher Brown has worked for the Southern Arizona V.A. for 22 years. Officials at the V.A. told News 4 Tucson that Brown was a data analyst who did not interact with patients.

They added that the V.A. has internet safeguards in place and are confident Brown did not commit any crimes while at work.
