On a Thursday morning, John Taylor is hard at work. He's turning plain old barrels into composting machine which make super soil out of waste.
"Everything that goes in that barrel comes out of our house so it's not going in the dumpster", said Taylor.
Using his homemade composter is easy as 1-2-3!
"Once you get the material in, you just spin the barrel, and then you open it up, put your wheel barrel underneath there and you dump out your material," says Taylor.
After making the first barrel for his wife, friends suggested he should make more. So he started selling them on Craigslist
Taylor said, "I've never done that before. [I] put them up 10 o'clock Saturday night. 6am Sunday morning I had already sold a barrel."
In three months, he's sold 30, to people like Allen & Emily Swanson.
"I purchased a compost barrel for my wife. She's been into composting for awhile. She loves it, she thinks it's great", said Allen.
Emily said, "There's a bunch of little holes in it and I can put a bucket on the bottom and catch any of the water that falls out and that's actually some of the best nutrients that you can give to plants."
Taylor's barrels, and composting in general, help to prevent waste material from filling up our landfills by creating a useful product out of our organic trash.
"It's been a lot of fun for me and I enjoy doing it and try to do something worthwhile to give back to the community", said Taylor.
