Local restaurants step up to help raise food and toys for Salvation Army

TUCSON - The Salvation Army is in need of 500 turkeys and is counting on the community to help them make their Thanksgiving and Christmas dinner happen.

On November 20, drop off a frozen turkey from 3p.m. to 6 p.m. at El Charro Café, located downtown, and you will receive a free appetizer at their café. You must provide a flyer which you can get at www.thesalvationarmytucson.org, in order to get that free appetizer.

As of Wednesday, the Salvation Army was just 500 turkeys short of having enough to feed families for Thanksgiving and Christmas.

The Salvation Army also needs donations for their kid's toy drive. This month, Risky Business Restaurants will be donating all their kid meal and dessert sales to the Salvation Army's kid toy drive. Their goal is to raise $10,000 for toys. They will be presented at the "Stuff the Fire Truck" event on Saturday, December 8 at the Sunrise and Kolb location.
