TUCSON - In this down economy, grandparents are opening their doors, unexpectedly, to kids and grandkids.
Multiple generations, living under one roof and some of those homes have unsafe swimming pools. Glady Worden's pool fence was a hazard, so Pool Guard of Tucson and Kristi's Kids stepped in to replace it.
Now, the grandmother of 16-month-old Tyler and 3-year-old Dorian feels more secure. Glady tells Kristi's Kids, the original fence was "very wobbly. The gate wouldn't close. You would have hold the fence and the gate to lock it up, and it was just not secured... Now I don't have to worry."
Pool Guard of Tucson's mesh fences are made with reinforced, powder-coated aluminum. Owner Matt Baranowski says, they're "guaranteed to withstand Arizona's summer sun." He says,"there are panels every 3 feet, so you're not looking at bars every 4 inches. It allows you a lot more visibility to see into the pool."
Glady says the fence is not a replacement for watching children.
