Local disaster aid org. taking supplies, donations for Hurricane Sandy

TUCSON - World Care, the locally-based emergency relief organization, is now connecting supplies in anticipation of Hurricane Sandy.

Below is a list for requested supplies, from a World Care news release:

New blankets
Toothpaste, toothbrush,
dental floss
Nail clippers
Soap, Liquid detergent
Razors/shaving cream
Toilet paper
Feminine hygiene products
Medical First Aid & OTC only
Over-the-counter pain relievers
Band-Aids, liquid Band Aid
Anti-diarrhea medication
Antacids (for stomach upset)
Gauze, sterile and non-sterile
Hypo-allergenic adhesive tape
Shaving cream, bar soap
Hand sanitizer, deodorant
Diapers - adult and baby

Donations can be dropped off weekdays from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the World Care Drop Off Center, located at 3538 E. Ellington Place.

Monetary donations for World Care can be sent as a check to: PO BOX 6400, Tucson, AZ 85728, or made online at www.worldcare.org.

The World Care Civilian Emergency Relief Center of Tucson was chosen by FEMA to facilitate and manage commodities during catastrophic disasters in Region 9, which includes Arizona, California, and Hawaii.

WorldCare has previously assisted after the earthquake in Japan in 2011, after the earthquake in Haiti in 2010, and after the earthquake and tsunami in the Indian Ocean in 2004.
