TUCSON - U.S. Border Patrol agents from the Tucson Sector arrested two subjects, in separate incidents, with warrants related to murder.
Yesterday, Nogales agents arrested a male who first claimed to be an illegal alien, but then admitted to being a U.S. citizen. During processing, using the Integrated Automated Fingerprint Index System (IAFIS), agents discovered an active felony warrant out of Pima County for his arrest on charges of "first degree murder." He was turned over to the Tucson Police Department for extradition.
In a second incident this morning, agents assigned to the Ajo Station arrested another man claiming to be an illegal alien. Through the use of IAFIS, a records check revealed a felony warrant for the man's arrest on charges of attempted murder in Santa Ana, Calif. Agents also learned the man is actually a U.S. citizen. He was turned over to the Pima County Sherriff's Office for extradition.
