TUCSON - A lightning strike displaced three people Sunday from their apartment on the east side of Tucson.
The strike took place during the Monsoon that hit in the afternoon.
Residents of the same apartment building stated they heard a loud bang and then lost power.
The 9-1-1 dispatch center fielded a few calls reporting a lightning strike to the complex.
The first unit arrived reported light smoke coming from the roof of the three story apartment.
They used a ladder to get to the roof.
Crews used a thermal imaging camera to find the hottest point in the ceiling area.
They then started pulling down the drywall and insulation.
The displaced residents were being moved into a different apartment in the same building.
Damage is estimated at $15,000.
