TUCSON - A lightning strike during storms caused a fire at a home in the 4700 block of Via Molina.
The response time was very short because crews were in the area on another lightning strike to a tree prior to this house fire being dispatched, Rural Metro Fire Department spokesman Grant Cesarek said.
Crews found an incipient phase fire in the garage and kitchen area, fire just starting to spread laterally in the attic space.
Thermal imaging showed fire around the duct work, firefighters ventilated the structure by cutting a hole in the roof, simultaneously making access from inside with hose line to extinguish the fire completely.
The damage will displace the resident from the home.
Inspectors are currently on site determining the amount of damage and assisting the resident with there needs after this emergency.
