TUCSON - Fire managers are closely monitoring the Deer Head Fire in the Rincon Mountains near Spud Rock Springs.
The fire broke out Thursday around 11:15 a.m. It's estimated to be about 15 - 20 acres.
Saguaro National Park officials say the fire is burning in steep, rugged terrain. With the help of humidity and recent rain, fire behavior is moderate.
Fire managers are monitoring the fire from the ground. They plan to do a reconnaissance flight to determine the need for suppression response. Firefighters will respond as needed.
The fire is in the vicinity of the Heartbreak Ridge Trail, however there are no closures at this time.
Smoke is visible from Tucson, Vail, Benson and the surrounding area.
