PHOENIX (AP) - Cliffsides once covered by Lake Mead are clearly visible as the level of the once mighty lake created by Hoover Dam continues to fall.
Lake Mead is at a 54-year low having dropped an additional ten feet since last summer.
There's now talk of water rationing.
If the lake drops to an elevation of 1,075 feet below sea level, water deliveries below Lake Mead are reduced by a little more than 10 percent. Additional cutbacks would occur if the lake continues to drop.
Reclamation officials say the reservoir is now at an elevation of 1,087 feet above sea level - its lowest level since 1956. The lake, straddling Arizona and Nevada, is expected to shrink another 3 feet this year.
