LOS ANGELES (AP) - Authorities say a liquid targeted for secondary scanning at Los Angeles International Airport was mistakenly allowed through security, halting screening for nearly a half hour.
Transportation Security Administration spokeswoman Suzanne Trevino says a woman and a man in a wheelchair tried to bring a liquid medication through a terminal at around 5:30 a.m. Wednesday. The liquid was supposed to be scanned by a machine to determine that it wasn't dangerous.
Trevino says before the scan was completed, the bottle was mistakenly returned to the couple and they continued to their boarding gate.
TSA agents realized the mistake a short time later. Trevino says security screening at three terminals was halted for about 25 minutes until the couple was found and the bottle was cleared.
