Tempe, AZ - Arizona Cardinals quarterback Kurt Warner has been named this week's "NFC Offensive Player of the Week" for his performance in last Sunday's 30-17 victory against the Minnesota Vikings.
Returning to the starting lineup after missing the Tennessee game the previous week due to a head injury, Warner completed 22 of 32 passes (66.7%) for 285 yards, three touchdowns and a passer rating of 127.7 in the win.
He threw three first-half touchdown passes, two to Anquan Boldin and one to Larry Fitzgerald to give Arizona a 21-10 halftime lead and help them improve to 8-4 on the season, their best record through 12 games since 1976.
Additionally, it was Warner's fourth consecutive game with a passer rating over 120.0, making him just the second QB in NFL history to record four consecutive games with a passer rating of 120.0+.
Prior to Warner, only Hall of Famer Johnny Unitas (1965) had accomplished the feat. He also became the first quarterback in Cardinals history to have four straight games with a passer rating of 100.0 or better.
This is Warner's second Offensive Player of the Week selection in 2009 after being honored following Arizona's week 9 win at Chicago. It is also the ninth time in his career Warner has earned Player of the Week honors and this is his fifth selection as a member of the Cardinals.
With this selection, Warner now has the most Player of the Week selections in team history, passing quarterback Neil Lomax (1984-88) who had four. Warner also becomes the first Cardinals offensive player to be awarded twice in the same season since quarterback Boomer Esiason in 1996.
It marks the sixth time this season that a Cardinals player has been selected as Player of the Week. Calais Campbell earned special teams honors following the Cardinals week 2 victory against the Jacksonville Jaguars, cornerback Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie was named defensive player of the week following the Cardinals week 5 win vs.
Houston, safety Adrian Wilson was selected for defensive honors following the Cardinals week 7 victory against the New York Giants, Warner collected offensive recognition following Arizona's week 9 win in Chicago and running back LaRod Stephens-Howling was given special teams honors following the Cardinals week 12 game at Tennessee. The six selections for the Cardinals ties the team record (1998) for the most selections in a single season.
