TUCSON- Local kids, waiting to be adopted in Tucson, got the VIP treatment at AVEDA INSTITUTE. For some, it was the first time they've ever had a professional haircut- let alone a manicure or pedicure. These are children Kristi's Kids has featured, over the past year, who are waiting to find their "Forever Families." Their biological Moms and Dads have lost their parental rights.

For example, Charlie and her brothers... Shavonne and Romelle. They were featured, as Kristi's Kids, back in August. 4-months later, Shavonne says he's still looking for "a family."

The children were treated to a day of style at AVEDA. The Institute's way of giving back.
Cindy Nieves, with AVEDA, told Kristi's Kids "I think the most shocking part were the boys. How excited they were that they were getting a facial. They all want manicures, pedicures..."

On camera... They couldn't stop talking about their hair! 12 year old James said, he wanted it "long enough so I can spike it, and trim the sides." While getting shampooed, 10 year old Romelle said "I like it when they put moisture in our hair and massage it." 13 year old Joe said "I'm waiting for the haircut." Plain and simple.

They wished and they received too! Little Charlie wanted her hair straightened. She got it. Even the foster parents were treated to a little massage. And Kristi's Kids got some GREAT NEWS! According to Bonnie Leko, with St. Nicholas Adoption "all of Kristi's Kids? We probably have 8-to-10 in homes right now, moving toward adoption."

Our goal, of course, is to get each and every child we feature into a permanent home. Perhaps in 2010. Meantime, AVEDA says it'll pamper another set of St. Nicholas children for Valentine's Day because it means so much.
