Kristi is an award-winning journalist with deep ties to Tucson, the city in which she grew up. A graduate of Amphitheater High School in 1989, Kristi also got her Bachelor's Degree in Communications from the University of Arizona in 1994. After a 10-year stint in the Midwest, she returned home in 2004 to the station she'd always watched, KVOA. Currently, Kristi anchors the 5, 6 and 10 o'clock newscasts.
Since 2004, Kristi has been recognized by her peers with two regional Edward R. Murrow awards. One was for her look back at the murder of a Tucson child, Vicki Lynne Hoskinson. The other was for her investigation into worker safety in Arizona's Child Protective Services. Kristi's C.P.S. investigations also led to changes in Arizona law. After the deaths of three Tucson children in 2007, Kristi's reports prompted lawmakers to pass reforms in the system. Those laws were signed by Governor Janet Napolitano in 2008.
Kristi is a strong advocate for Arizona children, with her weekly Kristi's Kids reports. A mother of two boys, she feels it's her duty to look out for all children in Southern Arizona. If you have a story you'd like her to pursue, send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org.
