Kitchen Cops: The 50's not popular at local Mexican restaurant

TUCSON- Pima County Health Inspector's continue to weather high Tucson temps to make sure restaurants are keeping it cool where it counts.

El Dorado Restaurant, at 1949 S. 4th Ave., received seven critical violations. Several items, in a walk-in cooler, tested above the required maximum 41 degrees. Two large tubs of cooked rice temped at 52 degrees, shredded chicken at 51-degrees and two containers of menudo at 52-degrees. In a reach-in cooler, tamales and a container of milk tested at 50 degrees. An employee was observed putting on gloves and then preparing food without first washing his hands. A can of pesticide was found next to bags of potatoes on a shelf. Toxic materials must be stored where they cannot contaminate food.

With seven violations, El Dorado Restaurant, was given a "Provisional" rating.

Last week we told you about Arizona Pizza Company, at 5855 E Broadway, receiving a "Needs Improvement" rating. After further review, the restaurant's inspection rating was reclassified to a "Good" rating.

Two weeks ago we reported that Noble Hops, 1335 W. Lambert Ln. and Penca Restaurant, at 50 E. Broadway, received "Provisional" ratings. The Pima County Health Department has confirmed that both establishments passed re-inspection.

Restaurants awarded "Excellent" ratings include, Olive Garden, at 5410 E. Broadway, Korea House Restaurant, at 4030 E. Speedway and Viscount Suite Hotel, at 4855 E. Broadway.
