TUCSON - Tucson Racquet Club, at 4001 N. Tucson Blvd., received two critical violations. A severe rodent infestation was observed during the inspection. Rodent droppings were seen in cabinets,along walls and on floors. Dead rodents were also found on a glue strip and in a snap trap. The presence of insects, rodents and other pests must be controlled to minimize their presence on the premises. Food stored in a refrigeration unit tested above the required maximum 41 degrees, with milk at 50 degrees, tomato juice 46 degrees and ranch dressing temped at 44 degrees. With violations not corrected during the inspection, Tucson Racquet Club, was given a "Needs Improvement" rating.
Tucson Racquet Club management issued a statement saying, "All observations have been corrected and we shall strive to continue our long history of excellent ratings."
Black Top Grill, a mobile restaurant, received eight critical violations. The operator of the unit did not use soap to wash his hands, instead rinsing his hands and then using hand sanitizer. Hot water was not available from the hand wash sink. Distribution systems shall be sufficient to meet peak hot water demands at the establishment. The operator was also seen touching a hot dog bun with his bare hands. With eight critical violations, Black Top Grill, was given a "Provisional" rating.
The owner of the Black Top Grill issued a statement saying, "The Blacktop Grill got educated on a few issues we had at hand the day of inspection and decided to close early to solve them! Passing with flying colors on second inspection! We here at The Blacktop Grill are dedicated to providing quality food with our fresh ingredients and will always have the health and safety of our guests at the TOP of all our priorities!"
The Pima County Health Department did not confirm that, Black Top Grill, passed re-inspection.
Two weeks ago we reported that Sir Vezas Taco Garage, at 220 W. Wetmore, received a "Provisional" rating. The Pima County Health Department has confirmed that Sir Vezas Taco Garage passed re-inspection.
Restaurants awarded excellent ratings include, World of Beer, at 350 E. Congress St., Oriental Express Restaurant, at 982 E. University Blvd. and Union Public House, at 4340 N. Campbell Ave..
