TUCSON - It has been a very busy summer for the Pima County Health Department, with inspectors making several eating establishments face the music with a quintet of "Provisional" ratings.
Five Palms Steak and Seafood, at 3500 E. Sunrise, received seven critical and seven non-critical violations. Numerous items and equipment in the kitchen area had heavy dried food and grease buildup. A non-critical violation cited that the entire facility has food and grease buildup and that the building "must" have a detailed cleaning. With seven critical violations, Five Palms Steak and Seafood was given a "Provisional" rating.
Agustin Kitchen, at 100 S. Avenida Del Convento, received seven critical violations. Items in refrigeration units tested above the maximum 41 degrees, with ham temped at 59 degrees, calamari 56 degrees, raw beef at 49 degrees. Shelves and kitchen items had dust and food debris on them. With seven critical violations, Agustin Kitchen, was given a "Provisional" rating.
Five Points Market and Restaurant, at 756 S. Stone Ave., received seven critical violations. Pulled pork, cooling for over 3 hours, temped at 84 degrees. Cooked food must be cooled to 70 degrees within two hours. An employee was observed cracking a raw egg and then putting on gloves to handle food. With seven critical violations, Five Points Market and Restaurant, was given a "Provisional" rating.
Five Points management responded to their recent inspection report by saying, "The staff at Five Points Market & Restaurant take pride in promoting high levels of cleanliness and food safety. As long-time professionals in the food industry we were surprised to receive a provisional license from Pima County Health Department but have since enacted policy to ensure 100 percent compliance with food safety regulations."
Cheeburger Cheeburger, at 7250 S. Tucson Blvd., at the Tucson International Airport, received seven critical violations. Several utensils put away as clean had food debris encrusted on them. Food items, including ham, sausage and cheese were not properly date marked. With seven critical violations, Cheeburger Cheeburger, was given a "Provisoinal" rating.
Arizona Sports Grill, 7250 S. Tucson, also at the Tucson International Airport, received seven critical violations. Several refrigerated food items tested above the required maximum 41 degrees with raw eggs at 59 degrees, shredded cheese at 56 degrees and sausage temped at 47 degrees. An employee handled eggs and then changed gloves without first washing her hands. With seven critical violations, Arizona Sports Grill, was given a "Provisional".
Restaurants awarded "Excellent" ratings include Kampai Sushi, at 6486 N. Oracle Rd., Frank's Restaurant, at 3843 E. Pima St. And Little Anthony's Diner at 7010 E. Broadway.
