Kitchen Cops: Jasper's on Campbell gets 4 critical violations

TUCSON - This week's edition of Kitchen Cops features a cook who was a trooper for showing up but should have stayed away after throwing up-- before coming to work.

Jasper's | 6370 N. Campbell
FOUR CRITICAL VIOLATIONS

A cook complained of feeling sick and reported that she had vomited before arriving for work and was experiencing diarrhea. That same cook was observed handling dishware and preparing food with her bare hands. Refrigerated food tested above the maximum 41 degrees, with cream of mushroom soup at 54 degrees, raw shell eggs at 48 degrees and raw chicken at 48 degrees. Items held in a make top unit were stored passed expiration dates with cole-slaw 10 days passed it's expiration date and roast beef 4 days passed it's expiration date.

With violations not corrected during the inspection, Cafe Jasper was given a "Needs Improvement" rating.

Jasper Restaurant management released a statement saying:

"At our restaurant we are dedicated to serving the safest and freshest food; we took this rating very seriously and took every measure possible to reinstate the excellent ratings we've always had. All items found to be at even slightly higher temperatures were thrown out immediately and our walk-in was promptly fixed. With regards to the allegedly ill employee, she came to work with a headache and had no other complaints; as a precautionary measure to ensure her knowledge of health and food safety, she was sent to a Health Department certification class along with the entire kitchen staff."
