TUCSON - No shut down for Pima County Health Inspectors, still on patrol evaluating eateries throughout Southern Arizona.
Sky Rider Coffee Shop, at 11750 W. Avra Valley Rd., received six critical and two non-critical violations. A dishwasher was observed loading dirty dishes and then unloading clean dishes and utensils without first washing her hands. A deli slicer had dried dirt and food debris on it's blade. Hot held food tested below the required minimum 130 degrees, with sausage gravy at 106 degrees and cooked oatmeal at 95 degrees. Food items in a reach-in refrigerator tested above the maximum 41 degrees, with sliced ham at 48 degrees and mayonnaise at 56 degrees. A non-critical violation described a soda dispenser as extremely dusty and dirty. With more than five critical violations, Sky Rider Coffee Shop was given a "Provisional" rating.
Henry's Market, at 3051 E. 36th St., received three critical and six non-critical violations. Meat slicers, a meat saw and meat hooks were reported as not cleaned properly. All contact surfaces and equipment used in food preparation must be cleaned every 4 hours. Food items in a walk-in cooler tested above the maximum 41 degrees, with stir fry meat at 45 degrees, chorizo at 47 degrees and tofu temped at 56 degrees. Non-critical violations instruct management to "thoroughly clean" several areas and items in the kitchen, including walls, racks, shelving and display cases. With critical violations not corrected during the inspection, Henry's Market was given a "Needs Improvement" rating.
Restaurants awarded "Excellent" ratings include, Ala Buzz Cafe, at 12985 N. Oracle Rd., Taqueria Pico De Gallo, at 2618 S. 6th Ave. And Cafe Poca Cosa, at 110 E. Pennington
