TUCSON - It was another busy week for the Pima County Health Department. In the nearly 200 evaluations of Tucson area restaurants inspectors found a serious need for clean at the scene at one eatery and employees who love to work with their hands.
Guiseppe's Ristorante, at 6060 N. Oracle Road, received 5 critical violations. Utensils including knives, spoons and ladel's were found to have greasy food debris on them and stored as clean. There was also grease and food debris observed on kitchen equipment and shelving. Required expiration dates were not displayed on food items including containers with cooked lamb and pasta. With more than 4 critical violations Guiseppe's Ristorante was given a "Provisional rating.
Pappoule's, at 4500 N. Oracle Road, received 4 critical violations. Food being cooled on ice tested over the maximum allowed 41-degrees, with pasta salad at 51-degrees and crab salad at 45-degrees. A cook was observed handling food without gloves and then that food was served to customers. Upon conclusion of the inspection, Pappoule's Ristorante, was given a "Needs Improvement" rating.
Two weeks ago, Curry Leaf Indian Restaurant, at 2510 E. Grant Road, was profiled after receiving a "provisional" rating. The Pima County Health Department has confirmed that the restaurant passed re-inspection.
Restaurants recognized this week for "Excellent" ratings include, Little Mexico Steakhouse, at 2851 W. Valencia, Sir Vezas Taco Garage, at 4699 E. Speedway and Grandma Tony's Pizza, at 7878 E. Wrightstown.
