TUCSON - To educate and reinforce messages of water safety the 6th annual Water Safety is for You! program will be reaching close to 800 first graders who do not have access to water education.
Since the beginning of the year, there have been 21 water incidents within the state of Arizona, six of which resulted in a death. Arizona is ranked 2nd in the nation for child drowning according to a news release.
The event will be held at the Mulcahy YMCA at Kino Community Center, located at 2805 E. Ajo Way, on Tuesday, April 9, 2013 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
At the event the children will be cycled through eight different stations, each of which sharing a different water safety message. These stations will also reinforce teaching materials that are meant to teach the ABC's of water safety.
