WILLIAMS, Ariz. (AP) - Campgrounds south of the Grand Canyon on Kaibab National Forest land are opening for the summer this week.
Four campgrounds on the forest's Williams Ranger District are set to open Tuesday at Kaibab Lake, Cataract Lake, Dogtown Lake, and White Horse Lake. The Arizona Game and Fish Department has stocked the lakes with fish.
The Kaibab Lake campground has been renovated, with 12 new campsites, better day-use parking and lake access for fishermen.
The Ten-X Campground about 2 miles south of Tusayan with also open on Tuesday. It has 70 single-family campsites, along with two group sites.
Two campgrounds north of the Grand Canyon on the North Kaibab Ranger District are set to open May 15. They are the 51 site Jacob Lake campground and the 38 site DeMotte campground.
